Namaste, Stacy

Stacy is a yoga bad ass.  (She’s also Mommy to super cute Mika.)  She has a new website launching soon for her private classes, and needed some photos to show off her skills.  We took these shots in the Botanical Gardens yesterday.  I had a great time taking these shots – I only wish I could so some of the crazy arm balances Stacy was doing.  I can do some crazy things myself, but you’ll have to come to one of my classes to see that :)  Speaking of which, yoga in Forest Park on Sundays continues through the end of September – stop by the Visitor’s Center at 10am for a free practice!

The Big Announcement

I have already discussed this with most of you, but I feel compelled to make a blog post for anyone who hasn’t yet heard the news.  (No, I’m not getting married.) In a few months I’m moving back to Denver.  I’ll be finishing out the wedding season here in St. Louis through the end of October, and then I’m packing my stuff and heading back to Colorado at the start of November.

Why, you ask?  There are many reasons for my decision (my family and friends, the mountains, and the quality of life, to name a few) but mostly Colorado feels like home and I miss it.  I’ve loved the last three years I’ve spent in St. Louis, but it’s time to go back.

I’ll still be doing photography, just in another state (although there are more changes in store for Six Eighty Three…but more on that later.)  If you already have me scheduled to photograph your wedding, you can expect that this will effect you very little if at all – technology is a wonderful thing.  As for 2010, I am not accepting any more weddings in St. Louis.

If you have any questions or concerns, I’m happy to speak with you.  Otherwise stay tuned for more announcements about exciting changes for my business!

The Knot Industry Party

Last night The Knot hosted their annual Industry Party, this year planned by Lacy Branch Events.  Lacy asked a couple of photographers to come down and take some photos for her, so I joined Von DeVore and Kelly Park to photograph the event.  I think peacock was the theme – bright colors and feathers everywhere!  This was the third time I’ve shot at Mad Art in Soulard, and I love it more every time.  The lighting and artwork is fantastic.  I was only able to stay for about an hour, so I missed most of the party (and apparently red velvet cake!)  I’m glad I got to be there for that short stint to see everyone!

Travel photos: Helsinki

This is the last installment of images (I think.)  It’s funny how few images I took in Helsinki.  I think partially I was a little burned out of taking photos, and partially I just didn’t care that much for Helsinki.  It’s a smaller city, and doesn’t have quite the same appeal that the others did.

One thing I did love was how many farmers’ markets we saw there.  I am a sucker for a good produce stand.  The other shots are just a few churches.  There was a beautiful small park in the center of town, but I didn’t think to take photos of it, so this is all I have of Helsinki.  Sorry Finland!

Travel photos: Stockholm

Part three – Stockholm, Sweden.  Yes, Swedish people are as beautiful as everyone says.  (That has been the number one question I’ve had to answer since I got back!)  Turns out the city is nice, too.

The photo of the ice glasses is from the Absolut Ice Bar we went to, where everything is made of ice – glasses, tables, bar, etc.  They give you a parka and gloves to wear before you go in, so you look extra ridiculous.  It’s a total tourist trap, but kinda fun for novelty sake.  The final shot is my favorite from the Pride Parade.  Apparently it was Pride Week in all of Scandinavia while we were there, and we stopped to watch the parade in Stockholm.  Very entertaining :)

Helsinki photos to follow!
