Happy New Year!

Personally, I still feel a little shocked that 2010 is already here.  I realize that makes me sound a bit old and resistant, but hasn’t 2010 always seemed like one of those super-futuristic years way out on the horizon?  Hmmm, maybe that was just me.  Well, whether I like it or not, 2010 will be here tomorrow, so it’s time to embrace it.  For those of you in St. Louis, I recommend hitting up the 24 Hours of Yoga at Marbles Yoga Studio in my old neighborhood.  I won’t be able to teach this year (since I live in Denver, of course), but I highly recommend Laurie and Stacy’s classes :)  If you live in my new neighborhood, check out the two fireworks displays tonight off 16th Street Mall.  Whatever you do, I wish you a happy and safe New Year’s Eve, and all the best for 2010!

(If you’re curious about the odd image, it’s Washington Ave in St. Louis, taken out the window of a moving car.  It actually has little to do with New Year’s, but posts are more fun with images, and it kind of looks like a drunk-eyed view of the end of a party….right?  Just go with it :) )

  1. Laurie said: Sweet! I finally made it into your blog! (actually, I think this is the second time...sorry, John!) Thanks for the plug and hope you had a great New Year's!     January 3, 2010 @ 10:09 pm

WPJA

I’m proud to announce that Tracy Carolyn Photography has been accepted to the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA)!  Their website describes the organization better than I can, so here’s a snippet from their mission statement:

“The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), an International, membership-based organization, represents professional photographers skilled in the documentation of weddings and events in a candid, unobtrusive style. The WPJA was founded to uphold excellence in the area of wedding photojournalism.”

The WPJA is quite selective, and they have rather strict guidelines for membership.  Their members include some of the most talented photographers out there, so I am honored to be accepted!

Tracy + Jasen in The Knot

Congratulations to Tracy and Jasen, whose St. Louis wedding was recently featured in The Knot magazine!

….and I’m back!

Whew!  After three weeks of traveling around Argentina and Uruguay and five days of relaxing out in California for the holidays, I’m finally back in Denver and ready to get back to work!  Many new things are happening around here, so stay tuned for some announcements.  In the meantime, here are a couple of notes on the new blog.

Some of you have asked about your slideshow posts from 2009 weddings.  The blog will be fully backed up, including slideshow posts, in about a week.  At that point you should be able to view your slideshows from this site.  However, you can always purchase a copy of your slideshow to view on your computer indefinitely (slideshows do come off the web eventually.)  If you are interested in that, send me an email.

Also, please notice the new Comments section.  You can now leave your comments below – and please do!  I love hearing from people! (To leave a comment, click on the post title and then use the Comments section at the bottom of the page.)

And for you Facebook junkies (guilty little pleasure…), Tracy Carolyn Photography now has a page on Facebook.  Go HERE to become a Fan so you’ll be in the know about those sneaky print sales, special sessions, and other good stuff.

The image of the day is of the Hotel Llao Llao, perched in the Andes near San Carlos de Bariloche in Patagonia.  More news and images to come!
